Rusty S. & Pitti Blue o Le Sorelle I-IV is a one-act sculptural performance originally presented at Manifattura Tabacchi in Florence (16/09/2022 - 22/10/2022) that juxtaposes sculptures, audio, video, assemblages, scripts, and costumes around a kinetic, theatrical installation. For Montez Press Radio October’s broadcast it's been re-purposed as a radio drama in one act.
The work is a tragicomic and mortiferous fantasy developed around a puppet show. The protagonists are Le Sorelle – Rusty S. & Pitti Blue –, two glam and gothic-looking skeletons that perform a grotesque emotional screech in front of an audience of Pigs. Their performance provokes a progressive crescendo of psychophysical reactions in the audience. Trapped and captivated between the repetitive and tribal rhythm of the performance and their hallucinations, drifting between out-of-tune lullabies, teasings, and noisy carnivalesque inversions, the dispersed and fragmented identities of the audience quickly become part of the performance, defining the theatrical space as saturated with pain, presences, and impulses. Starting from an image of death as sleep, the work slowly pours into a psychedelic spleen, a layering of practices, meanings, forms and intensities that characterize MRZB's polyphonic research.
